The Love Language of God

"The Love Language of God
is the fullest treatise on the subject of love that I have ever observed. I believe it will become a recognized resource on the subject. " -Jack Taylor, Dimensions Ministries

Christianity is changing from being task-oriented "doing" to relationship-oriented "being"-becoming the equally yoked companion for the Son of God. A clear image of that loving relationship between Christ and His Bride, the Church, is presented in The Love Language of God for you-and all those who want a closer, more intimate relationship with the Savior. Don't let this intimate relationship with Jesus get lost in the everyday hubbub of life.

There are a few verses in I Corinthians 2 which have renewed my vision to pursue the First Commandment all of my days. And it should. These verses have truly created a great shift in my thinking and left me wanting more from God. My hope is that these mere words will spark the same hunger in you to pursue God and keep coming back for more, every time. dwayneroberts.jpgI Corinthians 2:7 says, “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory”. Paul is referring to mysteries which have been hidden in the heart of God for ages and ages. And now, as he says something like this, “But now the Holy Spirit is releasing these bits of wisdom to mankind”, also called the “revelation of the knowledge of God.”

Think of this phrase, “…The wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory”. Even before the heavens and the Earth were spoken into being, throughout hundreds of thousands of generations, God had a mystery, a truth hidden in His heart; He had a secret yet to be revealed to humanity. And now, He has chosen to reveal it to you and me when we posture ourselves in love.

Verse 10 says, “But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit.” In other words, from eternity past and through hundreds and thousands of generations something was hidden. Even during the lifetimes of the great patriarchs of the faith like Noah, Daniel, Ezekiel, Isaiah and Amos, the mysteries of God were undisclosed, saved for another time. If you were to sit down and try to figure out the unbelievable, astounding things which are waiting for you, it is greater than your wildest imaginations. Think of your best devotional, prayer or worship time, and it pales in comparison to the dreams in God’s heart.

At the time Paul was writing this, the Holy Spirit was beginning to release a new revelation of the understanding of the character of God. As Jesus said, “It is better that I go away, because I will send the Helper, the Holy Spirit”. The human mind, the carnal mind, cannot figure out what is in the heart of God. Without the revelation of the Holy Spirit, you cannot try to figure out the grand things which await you.

Paul gives us the secret to knowing these mysteries which are hidden in the heart of God. “For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God … Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, and the deep things of God.” The Holy Spirit, the very Spirit who is from God is sent to us, the redeemed, to reveal the deep things of God. Oftentimes, we think of the Holy Spirit as an ethereal being who somehow is supposed to help us in our journey with God. But here, we see the Holy Spirit as a Person, the Spirit who searches out the deep mysteries of God and reveals them to humans.

This is not only His function, but He is truly eager to release the knowledge of God with such massive depth, width and height. He searches out the very nature and character of God. This may seem like an odd concept that God searches out God, but think of it this way, the Holy Spirit goes headlong into the heart of God and searches out every last corner, even the deep things of God. He searches out these deep things, intimately knowing God in His fullness and in turn offers them freely to anyone who loves God.

If you’ve set your heart toward God and you think that encountering Him will be like getting a million dollars, think again. It’s far greater, even ten million is too low. A billion … don’t short-change yourself. Our puny minds are too small to wrap themselves around the good things God has in store for us. No human can comprehend what is waiting for a believer when they set their heart on pursuing the knowledge of God.

The Bible is obviously one of the best sources to delve into and get lost in finding the hidden things of God’s being, heart, dreams, desires. Ezekiel and John the Beloved were encountered with the throne room in Heaven and the man seated there and through their encounter many have been given a picture of God, revelation upon revelation of who He is. Let yourself be consumed with the search, for the find is astounding and your depths are crying out for His.
