We are living in, what I believe to be, the most historic time in all of human history. I believe that this is, in fact, the generation in which the Lord will return. And if I am correct in this, we are about to see the most historic visitation of God's Spirit that has ever been. If indeed we are the generation that will see the return of the Lord, then we are also the generation that will see both the great falling away predicted by Scripture, as well as the greatest revival that man has ever seen.

God intimately understands the human heart, which He formed. He knows perfectly how to motivate His people toward holiness. In Jeremiah 3:14, the Lord says, "Return, O backsliding children, for I am married to you." This very revelation is the highest and most effective motivator for calling people to abandon all else for Him. Great desire for human beings is the secret weapon in God's arsenal. The power of this revelation when we grab onto it is simply unmatched by any other revelation in the universe. It's not built on shame or fear but strong desire. He says in essence, "Turn to Me because I am married to you and because I desire you." He is not negating all of the other types of biblical motivation, but making it clear what the superior motivation is. This will become the single most important impulse toward holiness in the final hour of natural history as the Lord raises up a bride with a heart after God's.

Have you ever noticed that in the Bible the many "little" things that seemed to be given a place of great significance: the little gift of the widow, the water pots in which Jesus performed His first miracle, Shamgar's ox goad, Moses' rod, etc. I have learned that one of the great differences between success and failure in the life of anyone is the importance he, or she, places on the little things. There has to be a reason why men of equal talent do not have equal success, and oftentimes, men of less talent have much greater success than many other talented ones. |

The Quest for Significance
Where does the Christian find his or her identity and sense of worth? From a career... relationships... a ministry? This is too often the case. However, Jesus pointed us away from the realms of outward accomplishments and the honor of man to the inward encounter with the burning affections of God's heart as a means of discovering our true identity and sense of significance. |

The deepest heart level desire of all human beings is to be known by God and then to know God, to be loved by God and to whole-heartedly love God. We were all created with this longing for Divine intimacy. We all exist primarily for this intimacy. But the legitimate pursuit of Divine intimacy has often led many people into unbiblical and spiritually dangerous waters and the possibility of a sincere seeker of God drowning in a sea of subjectivity is a very real peril indeed. |
