The Love Language of God

"The Love Language of God
is the fullest treatise on the subject of love that I have ever observed. I believe it will become a recognized resource on the subject. " -Jack Taylor, Dimensions Ministries

Christianity is changing from being task-oriented "doing" to relationship-oriented "being"-becoming the equally yoked companion for the Son of God. A clear image of that loving relationship between Christ and His Bride, the Church, is presented in The Love Language of God for you-and all those who want a closer, more intimate relationship with the Savior. Don't let this intimate relationship with Jesus get lost in the everyday hubbub of life.

The Lord has recently been speaking to me about my prayer life.  It seems like a given to speak on this subject in Christian circles, but God is opening my eyes to just how little 'real praying'  I've done in the past.  What I mean by 'real praying' is the reality of communion with God.  I've come to find out that what I've been calling 'prayer', turns out to be some form of introspective self-examination.

My focus would be on the feelings I happen to be experiencing at the moment, my inward activity, my own thoughts, judgements, and desires.  It is not healthy to constantly think on these things, because "you become what you behold", and "as a man thinks, so he is".  I would continually become the same things I'm beholding creating a cycle of 'self-analysiss' masking around in a spiritual suit!  (Please note here that I understand the value of 2 Corinthians 13:5, and the importance of repentance...just being stretched to not constantly ponder my own weaknesses in my prayer time, but on His strength instead)

I'm trying out something new.  I'm focusing all my affections on Him during prayer instead of me.   When I've meditated before, it would become thinking on scriptures and how they affect me!  Again, all my prayer time was inevitably leading me back to me.  For this new season, my desire is to meditate for the sake of the Word, not how the Word affects me.  My desire is for the Lord to awaken my capacity for unselfish love for Him, and in effect, for others.  I want all my affections and attitudes to lead me to Him.

Try a little experiment yourself.  During your prayer time, maybe for the next day, week, or month, or whatever,  focus only on the Word during meditation, beholding the virtues of the Spirit of God, and the beauty of the Intercessor and see what happens.    I'd love to know if this made any difference in your time with the Father.  You can let me know at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it if you'd like.
