Brian Doerksen comments on the vital role that God-centered songs play
in the Church. "How can we focus ourselves, and others, on God as the
‘essential reality of the universe’ as worship leaders?"
We need to sing songs of truth. To worship in "Spirit and truth" means to worship in a way that is firmly anchored in the character of God - to have 'God songs' coursing through our worship times. It is essential as worship leaders that we frequently use and write songs that are not about our feelings, or even our devotion (though we need lots of those songs, as well) - but rather are songs about God’s character and nature. Culture has given a platform of influence to songwriters; let's sow the truth of God's word into people through words of truth - carried on the wings of soaring melodies. Let's not just reflect culture; let's impact culture with 'God songs.' |
